Kuntao and Arnis is an extremely challenging and rewarding course. This art has been described as Horrifically Beautiful. Its realistic approach and overkill makes it as real as it gets. This Art consists of stick and knife fighting as well as hand to hand combat. This program has a no frills, in your face approach, with immediate results.
This is a class offered to people who have time in the academy and have shown their character, it's not meant for everyone. Those who join the school will have to earn respect, through hard training, commitment, and dedication to earn the privilege to train with the core Kuntao group.
"Free Spirit Fighting Way" Kuntao training creates an understanding of combat from beginning to end. Each level of training is designed to enhance the student's physical and psychological understanding of violence. One of the most important elements in combat is the ability to improvise, but it is essential to know and understand exactly what you are executing to in order be truly be spontaneous.
Every aspect of Kuntao training deals with Real World Combat issues. Fighting is often perceived as an exchange of the combatants fears in physical manifestation. This is why such so-called fights have prolonged exchanges or end up on the ground. True combat is about survival! This exchange is explosive and final. People have a responsibility to develop other skills to avoid physical violence. Kuntao training often teaches the principle of over kill which teaches the student to flow from the beginning to the end. This helps to ensure positive habits upon implementation of physical techniques.

Rick Hernandez was born and raised in the South Bronx in New York City where he was exposed to different combat oriented art forms. He began his formal martial arts training at the age of five.
Hernandez began private training with Filipino martial arts legend Florendo Visitacion Mr. Hernandez was also fortunate in that he was one of the only people to receive Prof. Visitacion's complete Stick and knife fighting system, which the professor taught only to his closest students.
For over 20 years, Mr. Hernandez has trained law enforcement, military, private security, martial arts instructors, and the private citizen martial arts and tactical training.
