This program is extremely challenging and rewarding. Having been described as “horrifically beautiful”, its realistic approach and overkill makes it as real as it gets. This Art consists of stick and knife fighting as well as hand-to-hand combat. This program has a no-frills in-your-face approach, with immediate results. Muay Thai Kickboxing

Muay Thai is referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” because it makes use of eight total weapons: punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes. At West Coast Martial Arts Academy, we teach two aspects of Muay Thai: for the ring and for the street. Both styles focus heavily on precise body-conditioning which is designed to promote a high level of fitness and toughness. The result is the understanding and use of: proper timing, sound footwork, increased hand speed, a higher level of punching power, deceptive footwork and countering, and devastating kicks and elbows.

American Boxing

This program is included with Muay Thai Kickboxing

American Boxing focuses on coordination, flexibility, and core strengthening, while developing overall muscle, tendon, and bone strength. These benefits, combined within a great cardio workout, encourage excellent overall fitness!

At West Coast we teach a hybrid of Ring and Street Boxing. The Ring aspect includes correct form, footwork, body movement, rhythm, and technique; while Street Boxing employs head-butts, elbows, knees, and certain types of “illegal”  punches. Coupled together, they make for a devastating form of Boxing and fitness.

This program caters to students of all walks of life and is taught at a pace that will ensure you won’t feel lost or overwhelmed. This is a wonderful way to get the day started and relieve the stress of the day, or the week for that matter.

Savate French Kickboxing

This program is included with Muay Thai Kickboxing

Savate is a French Martial Art which uses the hands and feet as weapons, combining elements of Western Boxing with graceful kicking techniques. Only foot kicks are allowed, unlike some systems such as Muay Thai and Silat which allow the use of the knees. Savate is a French word meaning “old shoe”. At West Coast we teach Savate as a sport and a self-defense Art; with its linear strikes and piercing kicks it is very effective as a striking Art.
